What's in a name?
A competition to define live/work has been launched by Washington DC based developers Jair Lynch. Two prizes of $500 are on offer, and the winner will also see their idea implemented in one of the organization's live/work condominiums. Jair Lynch has launched a special website to host the competition - which is open to anyone - at www.definelive-work.com. One prize of $500 will be awarded to the idea that is rated highest by visitors to the site, while the other will be go to that selected by Jair Lynch to be staged in a two storey, 1,600 square foot unit in its Solea development in DC.
The website calls for ideas that ‘employ a progressive human centered approach', paying particular attention to issues of adaptation, entrepreneurship and the environment. ‘This creative challenge examines the relationship between the new live/work home and the creative, knowledge economy, where flexibility, independence, collaboration and uncertainty prevail,' it says. ‘Your suggested concepts for this project will define the term live/work and the way we measure success.'
