Biscuit Company Lofts, Los Angeles live/work

Biscuit Company Lofts is Linear City's award-winning adaptive reuse of the iconic, circa 1925 downtown LA Nabisco bakery building into 104 open plan live/work lofts plus Church & State bistro.

Conceived as the west coast headquarters of the National Biscuit Company, this landmark structure was designed by EJ Eckel, dean of American architects and founder of the distinguished firm of Eckel & Aldrich. Constructed at the then astounding cost of $2,000,000, this celebrated 7 story, skyscraper factory was an architectural sensation.

As with other conversions of distinctive Nabisco properties (such as the Dia Museum in upstate New York, the Chelsea Market in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan and the Nabisco Lofts in the West Loop of Chicago), the Biscuit Company Lofts blend meticulous period craftsmanship and architectural integrity with an array of modern conveniences and standout contemporary design. Biscuit Company Lofts is a fusion of old world craftsmanship and new world design.

Biscuit lofts are flooded with natural light, and feature sturdy steel frame construction, high ceilings, exposed brick walls, thick hardwood floors, industrial scale windows and oversized doors. Lobbies and corridors are enhanced by ornamental concrete and sandblasted brick, copper doors and gel-covered lamps.

There are a variety of floorplans with distinct shapes. Single story units range from 605 to 2,100 square feet. There are seventeen unique two, three and four story units varying from 1,800 to nearly 4,000 square feet. Ceiling heights are 13', 16', 20' and 30'.

Biscuit Company Lofts opened for occupancy on April 3, 2007. Later in 2007, Biscuit was declared Historic and Cultural Monument of Los Angeles No. 888. As a Mills Act contracted community, Biscuit Company Lofts enjoys substantially reduced property taxes.
